Next time you're in Radio Shack, pick up one of their $10 mini-microscopes, which maginfy from 60x - 100x. They have a battery-operated light, so it's easy to see what you're magnifying.

Use it to look at the edge of your chisels, scrapers, etc. Particularly for someone just learning to sharpen, the microscope gives you pretty valuable feedback on how straight/uniform/sharp your edge is getting. And even if you're not learning to sharpen, it's pretty cool.

Hey, that's a great idea! I'd probably start looking over the whole guitar though... rosette, binding...end graft...frets. It would probably drive me mad! Ha!
