Hey gang! Here's my #4, pre-buffing. Thanks to the Zootman for the quilted Sipo back and sides, Tim at AussieTonewoods for the Tiger Myrtle binding, headplate, and for sending the bridge blanks a little big so I can use the cutoffs to tile a rosette! The guitar is for my brother, who originally inspired me to play nearly thirty years ago. The neck is a 5-lam of walnut, Braz Cherry, and some rock maple that I uncovered while going through our late mom's estate....so there's even a little built-in heritage. Thanks for looking, and also thank you ALL for the insights I gain from this forum. Jon Attachment: IMGA0549.jpg Attachment: IMGA0552.jpg Attachment: IMGA0554.jpg

Jon she looks GREAT!!! I really like the Tiger head stock overlay and the Tiger bindings. I think Tiger bindings look very much like snake wood but they bend easier and have no splinters. Nice job my friend. |

Ooooh, that IS sweet! But you left out the most important part: what's the top? Looks white like Engelmann or perhaps Lutz? Steve |

Hey thanks everybody!! Oh yeah, special thanks to Bob Long for making me record! Will see what I can do. Forgot to mention the top is Carp Spruce...really stiff stuff! Can't wait to hear it when she opens up, although it sounds really full now with medium strings. |

One more of the end graft (with only Zpoxy)...will get some decent studio shots when I get it back for buffing. Attachment: zpoxy1.jpg Bob L., the little sycamore is coming along really well! Just got the first Zpoxy coat on that last night, was interesting to see the colors pop on that stuff. That one's for my 9 year old daughter, had to talk her out of Padauk bindings on the top half and Granadillo on the bottom....eeesh.....so I combined them into padauk/granadillo/padauk with no side purfling. Mixing that all with another tiger myrtle rosette to boot, I was skeptical until I got the thing sealed and a little shellac on the top...hey, it's what she wanted after all.....and who woulda guessed, but the colors all match really nicely! Gonna be quite yooneek when done, I'll say. |

Hi Tony - Yeah, no problems bending whatsoever...and not a lot of moisture required, just a couple spritzs with a spray bottle. Wishing now I woulda done a cutaway! Unusual cut of wood with those big swirls and all...very pretty. Thanks for the kind words! Jon |
