Well, please correct me if I'm wrong but I think this is the first all Koa Guitar with a double top! Master Grade Koa Back and Sides (Port Orford Cedar Doubled) Florentine Cutaway. It will have a Madrose Bevel and Bindings with Paua Abalone on the soundboard. |

Under finish that is going to turn some heads. Those are interesting linings... what's going on there? Am I reading you correctly that the top is koa and Port Orford Cedar? Why not nomex in the middle? |

Why not nomex in the middle? Lex, my double tops are hollow but I don't use nomex. Its an all wood core. The linings are Kevin Ryan's A4. Thanks guys! |

Pretty cool Peter. The smaller label won't that be turned backwards to the soundhole? Upside down? Different too. I never thought of two labels. Who doesn't love Koa? And Florentines are major cool too. Is that a big old chunk of spruce on top of the neck block? |

The smaller label is supposed to be out of the way and shows the specs and the string gauge. Thanks! |

Very nice, but I'd caution re. calling a guitar "Zion" as there is a company called "Zion Guitar Technologies" which undoubtedly has a trademark and copyright on the Zion name as applied to guitars... |

Thanks Rick, "the Zion" is merely one of my models and not a brand. I wasn't aware of the Zion brand untill a few months ago otherwise I would have probably thought of a differend name.Either way that guitar is still a "Cornerstone" |

It's really interesting, this name thing for guitar models. I did a search on the name Zion and it produced a ton of things, from guitars, national parks, towns, to religious references, seminaries, and several corporations. Seems generic enough. Speaking of guitar model names, my initials happen to be D.E.W. hence my business name D.E.Williams Guitars, and my website, dewguitars.com. Of course, coincidently...my favorite soda is Mountain Dew. So at one point I thought about naming all my guitar models after mountains, as in Kilamanjaro, Everest, WhiteFace, The Matterhorn, etc. etc....... That way, they would all be **Mountain DEW's**. I figured PepsiCo might not appreciate the correlation, but then again who knows....it might have lead to a line of guitars and a sponsorship thing along with tv commercials for free DEW Guitars or something. I was thinking..."Do the DEW, X (times) 2" would be a great advertising gimmick. You guys from Pepsi out there listening???? |

Re. naming...My name is Turner, but I can't use that in connection to any kind of microphone because there is a Turner Microphones. Kyser makes a "Renaissance" model of capo. They and I had to come to an agreement that we would not sue each other over that and my use of the Renaissance name on a line of guitars and basses I make. The flip side of that is that I had to write "the letter" to the new owners of B. C. Rich over their use of "Renaissance" in some ads touting that BC Rich is back in business. It's all about "confusion in the marketplace", and it's not about your logic or mine...it's about lawyers and judges. If the same name, be it Zion or Renaissance or whatever is used in the same field of product, then there can be an interpretation that that name "belongs" to the original party to use it. This is about entities protecting their Trade Marks and Trade Dress, and don't think for a moment that you're too under the radar to count in this. Tom Ribbecke, Richard Hoover, and many others got "the letter" from Gibson re. the dovewing peghead design. This also has nothing to do with what any luthier may consider fair and reasonable. It's business in America, and that means lawyers, guns, and money...well, two out of three, and thank you Warren Zevon for a great song. But Cornerstone...no problem! |

One more point... This is not about who is right and who is wrong, either. It's about who has the deepest pockets to pay attorneys. Believe me, you do not want to have to defend against a major player who gets a burr up their butt about you, your designs, your model designations, your trademarks, etc. Not at least unless you're more interested in sending your attorney's kids to college than in just making guitars. In this case, it's probably all nothing. That does not mean "ignore it all". |

So why the double top with koa? Jamie of koa guitar woods told me that koa does a great job for guitar tops on it`s own. This looks like it will be another one of your spectacular guitars. James |

Peter that looks like it is going to be one killer looking guitar. You mentioned that it will have a Mad Rose bevel, the first picture looks like maple, will you be veneering the bevel with Mad Rose once carved? |

You are correct Anthony, it will be veneered. |
