I promised to post a picture of a guitar I'm building with a 4 piece Adi top from Old Standard. Here is the top. Close up of the extra joint This is what it looks like when you get it. And this the Cocobolo back - notice the "Owl" figure Comments? Steve |

Man, that looks good, and a DREAD?!?!?! The joinery is practically invisible in the pic. Is it noticeable in person? |

No one has noticed it without my pointing it out. What you get for your trouble is consistent streak free color for a much lower price. This top was $65 from Old Standard. Steve |

Nice. Good price, too. I recognize that box in the background. |

Looking great Steve and that top is going to make a great dreadnought. I see some great silk happening too! |

For what little my opinion as a wanna be luthier means, I really like that you've used a 4 piece top. If more players would realize that by using 4 piece tops instead of 2 piece tops you can many times use better wood that wouldn't have otherwise worked as a 2 piece top due to size. I'm learning a lot here folks-- before this forum I'd never have even considered using a bolt on neck guitar, much less a 4 piece top. Now, I'm a HUGE fan of the bolt on neck (Thanks Lance!!!!) and wouldn't flinch at a 4 piece back either. (That said, I'm still not *completely* sold on the double side or double top idea, but I'm beginning to seriously reconsider my position since playing Brock's double sided slope shoulder dread. WOW!) I'd love to see and hear this guitar when it's finished! |
