On Jan, 23, 07 JFrench posted his excellent tutorial on making a v joint for classical necks. The title was V-joint tutorial revisited. Why can't I find it when doing a search in the archives? |

I don't know why the search isn't working but one of our members archives all tutorials. Look here: http://www.connor.net.au/olftutorial/ |

Robbie, coincidence you were looking for it, I was searching a couple of weeks ago because I wanted to try the v-joint on my next couple of guitars. I'm sure you found it by now. It's in the archives: http://luthiersforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10102&t=10511 I've finished two necks with v-joints from Joshua's tutorial. I'll post some pics when I get some. |

It's a great Tutorial. I used it too. It took me a lot of tweaking, but I finally got one to fit. |

I'm really happy to know some people are trying this. At first is seemed like no one was going to... |

It is a daunting task to some of us. My final joint did not resemble the original cuts. It took too much tweaking. I have lots of excuses, none of them valid. It was all my fault. Please ignore the marking error. It would have been covered up with the head plate. All moot now. I destroyed this neck cutting the side slots. |

Waddy - Don't be shy about sharing your boo boo's!!!! We can all learn from them. Your Vee joint looked pretty good. It looks like you nailed the precision and fit. I'm sorry that the slot holes messed up. Could you fit another head plate to the Vee you already had cut? Hey maan! Your joint looks really good, man. Hey, we're not talkin about that kind of joint! |
