Eugenio, not sure if of any help now, but try to use a scraper instead of sandpaper next time you work on the rosette or binding. When your work, try to pull from the spruce onto the rosette and not vice versa. This way the only spruce that might get soiled is the soundhole ring.

I am curious what kind of glue did you use to glue in the rosette?

Thanks

If it's Rosewood dust in the fibers of the spruce top sometimes you can blow it out with compressed air.

Is there any chance of you posting a photo of the problem? Might make it a little easier to work out a solution [:Y:]

And regarding changing your name - PM a moderator, I'm sure they could help you out

I have an idea that might work. Perhaps someone else can tell you if it actually would.

Seal the rosette (but not the spruce around it) with shellac. Once the shellac dries, scrape or sand the stained area. There's a danger that the area won't be level, but then you could seal the spruce around the rosette with shellac before scraping the rosette down. Hopefully someone else has a better solution.

I know this is too late to help and I am sorry for that but this is yet another mishap that could have been avoided if the top had been sealed with shellac prior to installing the rosette. Those of us that use CA seal both the exposed end grain of the rosette channel and at least the surround area of the top from the rosette out for several inches with a 1 or 2 lb cut of shellac to protect that area while working the rosette.

As far as bleaching I would assume this will not work as all you would be doing is bleaching the Spruce in that area as well as the stain from the Rosewood. this does not solve the issue on exacerbates it as now the Spruce will be a different hue in that area than the rest of the top.

We need to see a photo. You may be able to expand your rosette with another ring in place of the stained area.

Also, I would not scrape from the spruce to the rosewood; that is likely to create a trough around the harder wood.
