Wondering if you've used it with a good sound card. |

I've got and it works very well (at least the Mac version), it's very accurate, easy to use, but I've never taken the time to play with all the adjustments & bells and whistles. I'd recommend getting the little inexpensive Peterson mic (TP-2) that can clip onto onto you peghead to get a signal w/o interference from ambient sounds. (you'll need a jack to convert the 1/4 phone plug into a mini plug to connect to the sound connection on your computer. I might add that although I have this software, most of the time I use an old fashioned tuning fork out of habit or a little Korg CA - 30 (an inexpensive chromatic tuner). The main advantage to these are you don't have to be near your computer to tune up & they're cheap. For the optimum of cheapness/funtion in the digital world - I like the freaky tuner - a free download that lets you match an audio pitch from a wide range of instruments and in a 3 octive range of notes. Very handy. (If you search freaky tuner on the web you'll see sites for either PC or Mac downloads. Hope this helps, john |

Thanks for the input, guys. I'm also interested in using it for intonation. Any experiences? |

I sure have Pat my friend but again just with a Mac Book and the integral mic. StroboSoft picks up the sound as well as or better than any of the digital tuners that I have. When I first licensed StroboSoft I always used it when setting up and intonating guitars in conjunction with a Korg or Boss digital tuner. I did this mostly because it was new to me and I didn't trust it. These days I believe that StroboSoft is as accurate or more accurate as any digital tuner that I have used. Also, not to high-jack here, but there is or was a pick-up available for the Strobo non-software tuners and I wanted to get one to plug into my Mac and try it out. The jack is the wrong size if I recall but there were/are adapters available. Has anyone done this using the pick-up with StroboSoft? |

I'm trying to figure out how to post a photo. Hope this works. As mentioned above - there is a clip on peterson mic (TC-2) that works really well. I bought one from Stew Mac for around $15. The mic cable comes with a 1/4" phone jack that needs an adapter to take it down to a mini plug that will plug into your computer. I have mine plugged into a mac book pro - which I hope the photo will show - providing it appears on the post. j Attachment: tc-2 mic.jpg

well glory halleluya p.s. the mic can be plugged anywhere but I've found it works best clipped onto the peghead. It works much better than the built in computer mic - as there's no influence from ambient noise. j |

I just tried a seymour-duncan acoustic tube pickup hooked into the strobosoft and it works like a charm. You'll still need that 1/4" to mini adapter. One feature of this pick up that is handy is the volume control. You can adjust the volume on the computer as well. Attachment: SD pickup.jpg I also tried an electric guitar plugged into the strobosoft - again with the adapter and it works as well. You can pick one of those adapters up at any Radio Shack of probably most music stores. john |
