After what seemed like a thousand drawings and indecisions of what I wanted, I settled on this logo. The top part of the logo is supposed to look like an H for Hutchison.
I used Stew-Macs Dremel base and dental burrs to excavate the inlay. Wasn't as difficult as I anticipated.
Once cut, I applied a few drops of CA in the channel then fitted the pearl. Made rosewood sawdust on the belt sander and filled in the cavities then flooded the edges with more super glue. After it dried, I just sanded it flush.

very nice work Chuck - both the design and the inlay work. I'm going thru a similar process, though a few steps behind you. I know what you mean by the thousand drawings, or in my case 2.

you've come up with a straight forward simple design yet highly individual - again - good job.

I can't believe this Chuck!!!

You showed me that other headstock you did! It was GRRRREAT!
This one's fine and all, but the one you showed me was really personalized. All that inlay work you did, your going to let it go? I admit, it was a little over the top....

I'm going to post it and let other people decided which is better!

I say we use this one!!

Sorry, for stomping on your first inlay thread but I really couldn't resist! My bad!!

I wanted to ask how many hours did you spend getting this done, total, do you think?

Chuck, I like it. It does have an artsy flavor to it and it's all good. At first I thought the soundhole of the guitar was just another hole and I got to thinking...'hmmm... a seven string...' Until I realized it was a soundhole!

Just one thing to be careful. I dropped some CA into a side marker hole once, and when I pressed the shell in, I got a shot of CA right in the eye! Now, I wick in the CA after, or I wear glasses...

Chuck I really like that, implimenting the "H" into the guitar shape as the fretboard edge. Very cool indeed. [:Y:]

Oh and take it as a compliment if Billy photo shops you into a guitar, there's some real mastery there.

Thanks for all the compliments. I really appreciate you people. I guess I’ll keep this until something better comes to mind.

Billy T, I want to thank you for making my day. I got on here this morning before I went to work and just laughed my arse off. Today is my birthday and that has got to be the best birthday present I received.

THANK YOU Billy. Btw, I’d say it took me about an hour and a half to complete. Took about an hour using a jewelers saw to cut all the way around and about a half hour of gluing it in and sanding. It would talk a little less time on the next one now that I’ve done it once.

Chuck…great logo…I love how you where able to make the lower bout into a “C” and the upper into an “H”. Maybe someday I’ll come up with something that is as creative as yours.
As for the sound hole, it too thru me at first, but once you have the machine heads in I think people won’t give it a second thought.

Nicely done, rich

Man! That's a nightmare Al! Did you have to go to the hospital? What did they do about it?
