Okay, the new shop's almost ready to move into and I'm going to invest in the Festool ROS...I'm thinking of splurging on the dust extractor as well if it's strong enough to use with my new Performax 10-20...what do you folks think...Hesh? :?:

You'll love that system. I have the MIDI with 1" hose. It does a great job. It doesn't suck it all up from my 10-22, but it gets 80%. I'm going to upgrade to the 2" or 2 1/2" hose (I'm not sure which it is) as soon as I get ready to use my machines again.

When Hesh surfaces from unpacking I think he'd give the Festool a strong endorsement as that is the combo he uses. Trust me if it were dusty -- he'd have been doing something else a long time ago.

You might want to check the diameter of hose he uses with his thickness sander set-up.

Yep, no doubt about it, if there was any dust he would change. He had a picture of his set-up at one time, but may have been lost in his name reassignment, as the tutorials of his were. I know that's his only current dust collection though.

Larry my friend my sincere apologies for taking so long to get back to you here. I have been off-line moving and then without my own Internet connection.

I use a Festool CT-22 HEPA dust extractor with the optional hose, it's just under 2" ID with my Performax 10-20 Plus and it works great. Keep in mind that the 10-20 is not meant to do any heavy lifting anyway so if you only crank the handle no more than 1/8th of a turn each time the Festool works fine in keeping the drum fairly cool and of course sucking all the dust too.

It's a great space saving combo and the Festool also functions as about the best shop type vac available too.

I am looking to do the same - connect my Festool CT-22 to the Jet 10-20 (should be arriving in next few days). It is not clear to me how to step down from the 4 " dust port of the Jet to the CT-22. I got your recommendation to go with a 2" hose from Festool - they actually have a 2" and a 1 7/16" - do you know which you have?. Woodcraft has 2 adaptors, a 4" to 2 1/4 and a 4" to 2 1/2". Do you know which adaptor you used?

Anybody else successfuly connect the festol ct-22 to a drum sander?

Danny I like the 5" ES 125. It fits the hand well, is very light, and as powerful as I will ever need for guitar work. Also the pad beneath the paper is just perfect in terms of it's firmness. I am very happy with mine.

Since you are going to ask the dust extraction system is the best in the industry but requires you to use Festool papers if you want the dust extraction to work properly. Fortunately Festool papers are excellent and surprisingly reasonable in price/cost and they last a long time too.

Frank no need for a Cyclone here - the Festool CT-22 keeps my shop ducky clean.... :D

Glenn buddy I just went off and measured my hose and it's the 1 7/16" hose not the 2"....... :oops: :D

The 2" should be even better IMHO. Adapter wise mine came from Woodcraft and had to be blue tape taped onto the 10-20 but that works fine. The hose friction fits in the other end.

The outside dimension (OD) of the D50 hose is 2 ¼” which is the standard inside dimension (ID) on a shop vac port. So you want something that will go from 4” to 2 ¼” or 2 ½” as a 2 ½” will Have a 2 ¼” ID.

I also use the Festool CT-22 and the ETS125 ROS sander for sanding. I have the Jet (performax) 16/32 drum sander and use it on that as well. I have the Festool Rotex 150 which I use for buffing as well.

I did, however, add the Dust Deputy cyclone into the mix. I run the larger hose from the vac into the cyclone and then run the standard hose off the cyclone. It definitely improves the performance of the vacuum (not that it needed it) and now I don't use any more bags. I've emptied the Dust Deputy 5 times and still have the same empty bag in the Festool vac. I highly recommend this setup. Works great on the drum sander - not quite enough to keep the bandsaw clean on a heavy resawing day, but I can sand all day without a spec of dust in the air.

I'm thinking of getting the Clear-Vue add-on for the Rigid Shop-Vac to dedicate to my machines while keeping the Festool/Dust Deputy dedicated to my festool saw and sanders...

Thanks Glenn and it looks like Festool is a very responsive company too!

Mitch my friend I like the idea of a Dust Deputy too and I am interested in knowing more.

I wheel my CT around often - is your CT pretty much located in one spot or did you integrate the Dust Deputy and CT into a single wheeled unit for portability?

My CT has the Handle for the Festool boom unit on it, so I just strap the Dust deputy to the handle as it sits on top of the vac. I run the larger hose from the front of the vac to the top of the dust deputy, then I can wheel it around as needed.

The only modifications I had to make were with the hoses. The larger hose (that comes with the boom unit) is just a hair too wide for the dust deputy intake, so I wrapped the intake with one layer of duct tape - fits nice and snug now. I also popped off the vac connection on the smaller hose and replaced it with the same connection that is on the other end - you can buy these parts from your festool dealer - so now it looks like a two headed snake, but it fits the dust deputy and the tools just fine...

I want to try to leave the festool vac with my other festool stuff - I have the MFT table and the saw - so that's my sawing and sanding station. I would rather NOT wheel it all over the shop and don't have the space or budget for a big stationary cyclone, so I'll get the clear-vue unit and the Rigid shop vac for the bandsaw, jointer, and drum sander and position it accordingly.

I'll post some pics when I get my shop put back together...

Just got back on. Thanks for the ETS-125 ROS recommendation. I'll order one tonight & maybe the CT-22 as well. I'm much happier making a confident purchase.
