Chris, if you have enough width, you could use the leftovers for peghead overlays. If you could bookmatch those, that would be fantastic. Or slice 'em into rosette tiles and pull off something outrageous. Cool looking material for sure. Steve |

That ebony is definately sexy. What a find. The ebony that I am using for my first had some white in in, but it looked horrible, so I just dyed it. This white thought looks awesome. I wish I had some of this when I was thinking about using ebony. Where did you find these billets, if you don't mind me asking? |

verhoevenc wrote: Well the problem with white in MOST ebonies is that it's sapwood... in black/white ebony, the white is hardwood as well and just as hard as the black. That's what makes this special. It's also known as pale moon ebony. It can be found on the 'bay every now and again. The other side of the blanks are pure white, so I'll get two fretboards with that pattern, and two dull white ones which could be VERY interesting! Chris, Definitely a very nice find. I have so little left of the one I found a few years ago from Gilmer wood. It polishes up so nicely though. I have a damaged fretboard,( my fault ) that will someday become inlays or something as I won't waste wood like it. Still have to finish the 335 clone that I have some of the striped ebony on as a fretboard as well. Enjoy the great wood you found.Chris BTW even the small cutoffs can be made into some nice dangly earrings for your girl as well. Just some food for thought on that. My wife loved hers!! That is great stuff. I used some of that for an L-OO guitar. I love it. It has a odd smell when you work with it |
