Has anyone here ever convered a PerformaX to hook and loop. If so where did you get the PSA hook tape?

I'm pretty sure, but go to this page and call the 877 number and they can clarify.

One more question for anyone that is working with a hook and loop system on their dum sander.

I would assume that heat could be an issue. So I assume that very light cuts are required or am I over thinking the heat issue?

Actually it's less of a heat issue. The velcro proivdes a cushion so better air flow. Tension rollers may need to be adjusted due to the extra thickness. This stuff really sticks to a clean drum so remove the backing on as you unroll.

I have heard that hook and loop takes away from the accuracy of a thickness sander due to the compressibility.

Good thought line Barry. but here is a question on that train of though. If the compression is equal why would this be the case? Anyone have experiance or thoughts on this?

I had been wondering the same thing. My guess as to where the accuracy would suffer would be in the lower tollerences of the manufacturing process for hook and loop material. I have measured variance of around .002 in non-hook and loop Performax paper. With the compressability issue/possibility I didn't want to be the one to try this out...... but I would be very interested in what results.

Any time you can add to drum cooling that is a good thing.

I still havent found a sandpaper for my 16/32 that I am happy with. If this works out for you, please let us know?
