What diameter tube do you use for a hot pipe and do you squash it like in cumpiano? As a friend has some and a press which I can use but I at his 250 miles from home and have no reference material.

Thanks Guys

I use a commercial, electric heated pipe with a tear-drop or egg cross section. The nice thing is the different radii on the pipe. It has relatively flat spots for the large radius sections like the lower bout, and small radius sections for the tight sections, like the waist or cutaways.

3" is a good size. Anything over 2" will work fine, and some have even done it on a curling iron. Ask Alex! I used a piece of truck replacement tail pipe for mine. It was 3" in diameter. I did not bother to squash it.

My favourite in the middle (4") is squashed a little, but the others work too. The thin walled one on the left (2") is a little dangerous as the temp can vary a little too fast, but I'm used to it now... I use it for tight bends only. The one in the back is 3".
