Hi all,
Here are a few pictures of guitar #7 which I finished last week and handed off to it's new owner today.

Also, here is some video of me describing the guitar and Lucas Haneman playing it. By the way, listen for the harmonics while Lucas is playing. After we made the video I had to ask him where they were coming from. Turns out he was doing a partial bar chord but letting up on the treble strings to pop the harmonics. Pretty tricky.

Thanks for looking.

Pat

Wow, what a treat!

Lucas is a fantastic player- and what a great guitar! Some playing techniques I've gotta study there!

Having had the chance recently to meet Pat and see this guitar first hand, I can say the pictures just don't do it justice! It really is a beauty! Unfortunately I couldn't put it through it's paces like Lucas did in that video!

Congrats again Pat!

Cheers,
Chad

Banner guitar Pat! Great video too - nice sound quality to show off your guitar. A few questions. How long have you had it strung up to open the top? What gage and brand strings is it loaded with? Also, did you get a chance to mess around with I-beam? If so, how did you like it?

Thanks for the nice comments guys. To answer your questions Jamie:

The sound quality of the video might be a little better than you would expect because, aside from videoing, we recorded with a little digital recorder (the Zoom H2 Handy Recorder - highly recommended!) and replaced the original camera audio with the digital recorder audio. Over the past week or so, I've had the strings (12 gauge Elixer nanoweb) on and off the guitar several times. All told, it's only been played about 2 hours so I would expect the top still has some opening up to do. I've installed I-beams in two previous guitars and have been satisfied with the results. I have heard however, that they are prone to feedback. This is why I went for the i-mix system for the guitar for Lucas as he occasionally plays in front of monitors. The idea is that he can dial in more of the piezo element and less of the I-beam to reduce feedback problems. Other than plugging it in to confirm it worked and sounded OK, I didn't get much of chance to play around with this system but I will find out how it works from Lucas.

That is a gem of an instrument, Pat. What a great treat to get a video description by the builder, as well as a terrific performance by Lucas -- what a player! Those Zoom H2's are great for field recordings.

Thanks for posting this.
