Ive got a Martin stock neck and neckblock, the one with the fingerboard extender, 25.4 scale (dred). There is one single hole in the neck (bolt on mortise/tenon round bottom) Is there a stock Martin bult/nut that goes in there, or is it just for looks Eat Drink ? Can't find anything on their site.

Just wondering...is the neck you have the "nick billet" listed on their site? And if so, is it at all pre-carved/shaped? Or did you get this Martin neck elsewhere?

Martin will use a brass threaded insert that goes into the hole. The insert will use a 1/4 by 20 thread. I do have them . Be careful if you use inserts from home depot or lowes. They use the cheapest suppliers and may or may not work. I do carry them if you are looking for them

I got it from BluesCreek. PM on the way John. Stewi mac has a picture of it. I buy the ones with a ding or 2, and they are precarved.

I don't know about Lowes or HD, but the threaded inserts usually stocked at True Value hardware stores are just fine. The bolt Martin uses is just a 1/4-20 screw with a #3 phillips pan head, though joint connector bolts are popular with a lot of bolt-on builders because of their wider and shallower head.

Side note, make sure of your scale length. If it's an actual Martin fretboard you're using, don't call it a 25.4", because you'll start to believe that's what it really is. Martins are 25.34", and I've seen more than one guitar built where someone put the bridge in the wrong place because they thought their 25.34" was a 25.4".
