Where can you get the little metal box volt timer for the heating blanket for the Fox Side Bender? |

I have a mechanical timer that was intended for a bathroom. I got mine off of eBay simply because its easier for me to scrounge there than any where else. |

Per Charles Fox's admonition during his lecture at the GAL Convention last week, you have to be very careful using timers and dimmers from your local DIY store - most of them aren't up to the job (current handling wise). The heating blanket/s take a LOT of current. He recommended using heavy duty electrical parts (only if you know what you are doing, of course: a timer intended for a bathroom heat lamp would most likely be okay) or buy a proper timer/power control unit, designed for the job, from LMI or other reputable vendor. Doing the math - the blanket dissipates 1035W = 9.4A at 110V (ignoring the fact that it's AC we are dealing with here, not DC, but it gets us in the ballpark). So, just to be safe, I'd say you should use a timer capable of switching 15A minimum. Remember, this advice is worth exactly what you paid for it - nothing! Don't take my word for it, consult a professional. HTH, Dave F. |

OK, I found a good source for the timer ------- Grainger. They have 15, 30 and 60 minute timers. |
