Has anyone used a drill press for binding? I wouldn't think a drill press would have enough RPM for the job. A drill press would keep the bit vertical also. One could make a table to hold the guitar level to rotate under the bit and lower and raise the chuck as needed. Try to fit a disc on the chuck for the bit to ride on the edge of the guitar.

No, but I have built a jig to do what you are thinking.

It was a 2'x2' piece of MDF with a big "arm" that comes over it and suspends a lam trimmer. I put the LMI binding bit set in it and it works great.

I use it to bind carved top electrics. It cuts the channel an even distance from the "BACK" of the guitar and helps deal with the carved areas.

Works like a champ.

A standard drill press has insufficient speed (rpm) for routing a clean cut.

I kinda thought it wouldn't have.
