I'm looking for suggestions on cook times and temperature for bending walnut on a fox bender. Or any other tips or tricks which may be helpful.

Chris buddy Claro is one of he easier woods to bend. I never measure my temps, doing it by feel, but I would suspect that it bends at the lower temps like 290ish. I lightly spritz with distilled water, wrap in foil or craft paper, craft paper is probably better, and it bends like butter.

In fact I believe that Claro was the easiest wood that I ever bent.

Also - highly figured woods add complexity and difficulty to the bend, is your set highly figured? If so go slightly hotter and consider using a product like SuperSoft II prior to bending.

Thanks for the information. There's some figure to it as far as some fiddle back at places.I could post a picture of a set but I'm not familiar with the software over here yet. There is a picture of the back set that was cut from the same board over at MIMF in a Re Saw discussion. I have the sides sanded down to .090"-.085" and the backs from .115", 2-.110" and .100". I plan on bending the a set of sides within the next couple of days. It will be the first sides I've bent, well the first set of wood sides.

Here is my setup
If no figure or light curl figure, cutaway or no cutaway: Thin to .085-.09. Light sprits of distiled water. bend at 290

If high culy figured no cutaway: Thin to .08-.085. Light sprits of distiled water. bend at 290

If high curly figured and cutaway: Thin to .08-.085, .075-.08 in the cutaway. Treat with SuperSoftII for three days. Light sprits of distiled water. bend at 290-300
