Nothing off topic about Tommy!

We can never hear too much of his performances. A group of OLFers that I am privileged to have as friends saw him perform in Toronto 2 days after this concert.

Thanks for posting.

JJ - You're very welcome!

Tony - Very, very nice Bari, however, I'm extremly jealous you got to see him live!!

As I was listening to this performace my wife asked who the "other guitarist and drummer" we're accompanying him? Just one man I informed her...Just one extremely talented man! :o

Thanks Raymond.

Not sure where you are located, but the Toronto Fingerstyle Assoc brings Tommy here every year, and being the main sponsor for them, I go to all the shows. This year I had the opportunity to do the road trip to Montreal and Ottawa as well. It was a blast.

Upcoming events will have Muriel Anderson, Steve Howe of Yes playing solo, and early next year, John Williams.

Maybe you can make the trip up ... or go to the Chet gathereing in Nashville in July .. Tommy is always there.

Tommy is not going to be at CAAS this year. But still, CAAS is fingerstyle nirvana.

Hey Tony,

Actually, I'm located just East of you in New Brunswick!

Funny you should mention the CAAS as my guitar instructor, Mark Hill, has been invited back down to do a set at the event! He has met and chatted with both Tommy Emmanuel and Paul Yandall while in Nashville as he is a large Chet fan. His last album release was aptly called "Picks On Chet" and his new release will be out sometime this summer.

i saw Tommy on the 11th, it was the show of a life time. If anybody is within 1000 mile radius of one of his concerts you should take off from work for the next week just to go :)

I got a chance to see him here in New Orleans this past weekend. I had never really heard him play. The only thing I knew was that he plays Maton guitars. I was blown away. That is an understatement. I really can't describe the experience. If you get a chance you must see him live. The only thing though, if he wants to try out one of your guitars have him put a deposit down. He is brutal on his instruments. But, he can get just about any sound out of an acoustic guitar. I hope he comes back this way more often. Besides being a great performer he seems like a real gentleman as well.

I hope I someday get to see him play live.. he coaxes more dynamic sounds out of a guitar than anyone i have ever heard , in one of the introductions of the songs available by the above link , he states ,when he was young , the first time he heard chat atkins playing with a "reverb " on a tape loop to get the effect.... he didnt know an effect machine was being used , so he figured out how to get the sound manualy !! way too funny!
