Cocobolo tuner buttons as ordered by the customer. This was like cats eating grindstones, but I think the next batch will be smoother. There is dust all over the tuner cases that I did not notice until the pics came out. disregard that. Thanks for looking John |

Thanks Laurent. I think I can make a half way decent explanation. I need to make some drawings because all the forms and jigs I made were so modified, and I made so many mistakes in the process that I did not take pics and I need to reherse the proper sequence before trying to teach anyone. John |

Thanks Billy and Mike Those buttons are polished. No finish. I did touch them to the buffing wheel so whatever waxes are in that buffing compound is on the buttons |

John, Go ahead and make a few more sets, get the process effective, efficient, and well rehearsed. Then post a tutorial. You'll certainly become popular! |

Thanks guys Really it was just a matter of ripping a piece of cocobolo about 3/8 inch thick and as wide as the buttons are tall and long enough to make 8 so I would have a few to make mistakes on. Next I drilled holes in that plank of wood for the shaft, then sliced off each little retangle of wood and using that hole as an index, I made a number of holders that pivoted on a radius. when the pivot bearing the button was held to a sander and pivoted through its arc, it sanded a matching arc on the button. I did this on 4 surfaces, top, bottom, and the two faces. I will make better tutorial if you guys want. |

Those look great! Of course, they are just going to darken up a lot, and then you might not be able to tell they're coco, but they came out great! Nice work John... would love to see the tutorial. |
