This just left the shop yesterday. I wasn't able to arrange professional photos, but I did grab a few snapshots. The back/sides are "Angel-Step" maple, a rare form of quilting in Big Leaf maple. The silky top is some of Shane's Lutz. Simply amazing tonewood! Bindings/headplate are Brazilian. Ebony fb and African Blackwood bridge. Curly and quilted maple neck. You've already seen the rosette in an earlier post, it's our take on the Ball and Lozenge pattern. Hope you enjoy, and again, thanks for looking! Steve, You are really cranking them out. Another lovely guitar - the maple looks great and Shane's tops are always the business. Very tasteful wood combinations and a nice rosette. How does it sound? |

That's just stunning Steve. I've just turned on the dang-o-meter to see how many we can get of Don Williams this time. Cheers Bob |

Steve, have you got tone fairies working in your shop during the wee small hours? You are certainly producing some incredible guitars. Add this one to my list of favourite OLF guitars, it looks absolutely incredible. The limited colour pallette really allows the stunning wood to do it's thing. With the legendary Kinnaird (it's a family trait) build quality and you just know that you'll have one very happy customer. Colin |

My sincere thanks, gents. Dave, this one sounded like a harpsichord. Well, that's what the owner said anyway. (I thought his comment was surprisingly accurate, and all the more interesting since many a 6-string guitar is described as sounding "piano-like".) I was particularly fond of a low end rumble it possessed, and of course the jangle was there. It was strung with a light gauge set which used .009's for the top e course, which gave a thinner sound up top. The plan is to substitute 10's in their place to fatten up the top a bit. Bob, thanks M8. I feel like I've used up all my dang capital for a while. But we'll see. Colin, you flatter me. No tone fairies on the payroll, but they do pay the occasional visit. The increased productivity is due to my employee, Ryan Middlebrook, who keeps my feet to the fire. We were hastening to finish this guitar for the GAL convention. I wanted to bring this one "back" to the Washington event because the wood had been purchased there two years earlier. Oby from Targo Hardwoods supplied the maple. Thanks for the support guys. Dang (said with great respect for Don) Steve my friend how many guitars have you finished in say the last 12 months? It seems to me too that you are putting them out every couple of months now. And they ALL are sensational guitars, very cool as well as very tasteful. Beautiful guitar Steve! |

Hesh, thanks bud. 6 clappers? I'm honored. Let's see, last 12 months, something like 9 or 10. It really helps having help! Don, those dangs are worth more than many a man's praise. I really appreciate it. We just work at it in the afternoons. Slow, but hopefully sure. Actually, my brother is the more prolific of the two of us. When he gets on a tear, he can really turn them out! Thanks again, Steve |

It is not possible to be stunning, restrained, and elegant at the same time - is it? Yet somehow, you've done it. Let me toss a few dangs into the hat. Take a bow, Steve! Dennis |

Stunning, as usual, Steve! The maple is really spectacular...I am particularly impressed with the way the side reflects the figure of the back at the tail. You will definitely be on the list of advisors when I plan my first 12 string in the next few months. Thanks for posting! |

Ladies and gentlemen, I truly thank you, and I'm particularly pleased you like that maple. If I could be allowed one mantra, it would be this: "I love maple". I even like the plain stuff when it's well-quartered. And when the tree goes bonkers like this one did, there's nothing like it. Arnt, I was pleased as punch to post one without a black pickguard. This one's for you. Don, if my bro and I teamed up, we'd probably spend our time laughing, acting stupid, and then going out of business. But we'd have fun doing it! Thanks again everyone! Steve |

Steve Kinnaird wrote: Hey thanks, Carlton! By the way, where the heck have you been??? Steve Thanks for asking. I just got discouraged about not being able to do any building, so I could back up my talk with some walk. I still can't, but I missed the people here so I'm back to cause more confusion. |
