I do vacuum clamping and old pump went out. I just bought a new one on ebay, but it is new out of box from Thomas, and does not have the plug in part on the wiring. I took out the old one and was going to add that to this one, but the color of wires are different. I know little about electrical things. Plumbing I will do only get wet, electrical stuff not so much, it hurts. Any way on the old one wires are green, white and black. On the new one wires with a green/yellow stirpe, blue and brown.

I just don't want to hook it to an adapter and have it wrong and burn it out or whatever happens, like big sparks. The cord is short and was going to spice them together and do them with those colored nut things. I was thinking green is ground, and the other two hot, but does it matter on those which goes to what in either an adapter or splicing. I know convoluted, but I am tired.

Hi Stan,

I'm an electronics engineer, not an electrician, but I do have some insight you could use since I'm from England and now live in the USA - I had to re-wire several of my toys/applicances when I emigrated.

The wires on your new pump are European standard colors.

You should wire them as follows:

Old New Description
*** *** ********
Green Green/Yellow Ground
White Blue Neutral
Black Brown Line (Hot)

Make sure the motor is wired for 110V AC and not for 220V AC!!

Good luck,
Dave F.

Edit: I typed the table above with lots of spaces to line everything up, but there doesn't appear to be any way to type in a TAB or even several space characters in a row on this forum - it reduced my multiple spaces to a single space.....hmmmm.....this needs fixing. gaah

Thanks Dave. It is a 115V actually, but not a 220. I looked more and I think you have it right. I guess one was built to be sold in North America and one in Europe.
