Well, I went on a buying spree lately ... Picked up the following:

- Festool ROS and CT-22 Dust Extractor: Love these! I really enjoy using these.
- Bending Jig from John Hall: I have not tried this - just set it up yesterday. My next build will be an L-00, so I got this with the L-00 bending form.
- Binding Jig from John as well: I really look forward to using this as well - Thx John for all your help!!
- Just ordered some bits for the PC 310 so I can start my rosette.

I would love to get a 10-20 drum sander as well, but the Wife would definately kick me out after that one - will have to wait a bit (unless, of course, I find one priced where I can't refuse :-).

I am really digg'n the 4.5" Jointer I got last month. Its an NOS using from the late 50's or early 60's and way overbuilt compared to todays junk. I even used it to surface plane some fret boards this week and it worked wonderfull. Best of all, it does not take up nearly as much room as the 6" version.

I also just bought the SM fret slotting Mitre box/Saw combo. Haven't used it yet, but for the few boards I will make each year, this will work fine. I like that it is easy to store. The table saw version is great, but the sled would be just one more thin to store away.

Finally, I found some RAND laminent routers on Ebay for $20 each. They are quite decent routers and appear to run very well. I now have a few routers setup for tasks that I do more often. I just leave them with the bit attached and set up. I can pull a router out of the cabinet and run it around a pattern or whatever and place it back in the cabinet in just a few moments. Its worth the $20 not to have to change bits/fixtures etc.

This isn't new, but it's something I discovered a few years ago and it quickly went into the "how did I ever do without that?" category. It's a machinist's "pocket gauge" or "thickness gauge". Basically a dial micrometer mounted on a small cast frame. You can find them on Ebay.

I've gotten a bunch of "new" tools recently. The 10-20 drum sander that i picked up is the only true new one. The other's are a 1970 Unisaw and a chest of old tools that belonged to my grandpa. I've been house sitting so i haven't been able to go through it entirely, but i know there are some really old socket-type chisels and gouges, some bits for a brace/bit set-up, plus a bunch of machinist tools. Most of it he never used, but bought from a man he worked with. However, just having some of my grandpa's old tools is really cool. [:Y:] I'll post pics of it when I'm at home again.

my honey surprised me a couple of weeks ago with a "see snake", a rather clever devise with a camera on a gooseneck with an lcd screen. it is wonderful for assessing interior repairs, e.g., loose or cracked braces, bridge plates, etc. made by rigid and available at the borg.

In the last few weeks I've been able to grab a pair of 10 and 18mm Ibex planes, 14 and 18mm LMI chisels, LMI's glue clearing chisel, and some misc. things from Stew-Mac.

I love the way the LMI chisels feel in my hand.

First off is that I have made 2/3rds. of my carport in to a shop. Then there's my 14" Deluxe Rikon band saw, Hawk 4n1 20" planner, HF 2hp.dust collector and my newly ebay wins, #4,#5 and #7 Stanley Sweatheart planes. Oh yeah, the router table/ cabinet I built with a 3hp. Milwaukee 5625 router.

Joe White is my latest. Just sent my first guitar for him to finish on Monday. 2nd soon to follow, as I just didn't have the time or energy to do these most recent 2 guitars. I look forward to seeing the results

I just got the neck center finding jig from Tracy at Luthiers Suppliers.This is really a time saving tool.I saw one that Hesh had and I knew I had to have one.

I got a lot of use out of my centerline finder getting this last couple ready. I received one as a gift, and REALLY enjoy getting the neck lined up with this tool. Thanks Tracy!

Stanley #5 plane, Hock blade on the way, (now I cant take the wood down real close for final thickness sanding) tool cabinet for (75%) of the tools, renters insurance in the pipeline.

I get real nervous when people drive by when Im working in the garage now. Even though its a low crime neighborhood.

This is a neat little tool from Stew-Mac that I like a lot for nut slotting.It's
very handy for moving the strings out of your way without detuning.

I've been a bit splurgey on the tool front lately; got the Triton fitted in the bench (3 HP router tables are niiiiice. Bit scary, but nice), installed the MCLS Pin Routing/Daisy system (upside down pin router, sans plunge, useful for template work when I want to use a spiral bit instead of the bearing bits). Other than that, there's the new sanding equipement - an oscillating spindle sander (cheap, chinese, very similar to the ryobi, works great, dust collection works almost perfectly) and an inflatable handheld sanding drum from Industrial Abrasives Co. Looking forward to giving that a spin soon!

Recently got in a bunch of vacuum clamping stuff (two PTFE plates) and a vacuum bag big enough for sides - now I need to figure out how/if epoxy works in these things without gluing it shut.

Mostly I've been reorganising/cleaning up the shop, and I'm nearing the finish line on 7 (yes, seven) guitars. Many of which were started far too long ago and have been waiting for me to finish the shop and get the spray setup working again. I'm looking forward to both wrapping these up and playing them as well as to getting started on some new stuff. Lots of wood that keeps calling out to me, saying 'build with meeeeee....', and precious little time to do so.

I'ts not guitar making tools, per se, but I do have some new video stuff I'm using right now to film 4 new videos.... new mic, lights, bench, tripod... the new videos are Fretting (using a press, and more), nut making (electric and acoustic), saddle making, and closing the box..... eta.. 3 weeks.
