As many of you read here on the OLF our friend Michael Payne had his shop burglarized last month.

A number of us thought that it would be the very least that we could do considering how very generous Michael has been to all of us and the OLF to take up a collection for Michael to help defray the costs of guitars, lost tools and the damage to his shop.

After getting the approval from Lance we were authorized to start this thread. Michael will learn about this when he tunes in and sees this thread.... :D

To start things off I am making a contribution of $25 to the OLF Michael Payne Shop Restoration Fund (OMPSRF).

Anyone wishing to contribute please post your contribution here.

Many thanks! :)

This is a great idea Hesh. I've been thinking along the same lines. But...do we know what tools were taken, and if insurance is going to cover their replacement? I'm in for something, not sure how much at this stage. The less the insurance company will do, the more I'll do. But I'll do at least the $25 Hesh has started out with...to start with. I'd love to see a list of what he needs....

Hey Big John....it's not about the amount, it's about being a part of what the community is doing. The fact that you're doing something shows that you have a good heart. That's all we're asking from folks. Believe me, there are a lot of us who if we could afford to buy Michael a whole new shop, we would. Sometimes we all need to step out of our own little world and do something good for someone else. This is a great opportunity. Thanks John!

Big John - and anyone lurking on the thread...

Thank you very very much. It does not matter how much you pledge, every bit helps. Put yourself in Michael's shoes for a minute...you open up the door to the shop and your precious hand tools, the stuff you use to get really close to the wood, are gone. When I read that thread, I called my wife over and we both said a li'l prayer for Michael...

This is one of the reasons I love this community - doesn't matter how much, what matters is we all give...and give a dang about one another...Someone's always got your back here...

makes me proud.
