I was goofing around in the archives reading everything I could on fretting acoustic guitars...and that brought to mind a question.

This question is really geared towards those that have made many guitars. Since I have only made half a guitar, laughing6-hehe , I can't add anything but untested ideas....which I may do depending on how this thread goes. If you have done only one guitar but have a "I wish I had done it this way"...please contribute.

What do you see as being the biggest flaw on the fretboards of major manufacturors assembly line builds? Everything is game.

I think the major guitarmakers do a good job on their frets.

But 2 things come to mind that I've seen in many a factory guitar.
#1
-fret end filing -some need to be cleaned up!
#2
fret leveling-I think the big guys send there guitars out without a settling in period.
During this time some frets can lift slightly because of stresses on the neck by the string pull!
That's the only real problems I see from time to time!

Mike
