Richard Glick of Fine Guitar Consultants died yesterday after a long illness. Many of you probably knew him or saw him at festivals. I considered him a friend and advisor. His wife Annetta plans to continue the business. |

Sorry to hear that Howard, I met him a couple of years ago at HB. Seemed like a nice enough guy. |

I met Richard at a GAL convention, I think it was 2004. Richard, two Australian luthiers and I found ourselves staying an extra day and everyone else had left. We found ourselves with nothing to do that night, so the four of us went into town where an eccentric local guy we had met was wanting to take us around the outskirts of Seattle and show us a lot of smaller bars and places where many of the classic bands of the 60's had gotten started. So, this guy drove us all around, much beer was consumed and even more fun was had. We started out by playing guitar together at a little open mic venue, Richard was really quite a good guitar player and he told us stories about his friendship with Chet Atkins, and played songs. He was a very colorful and funny guy, I am sad to hear this news.... Then we took off and drove around Seattle, and had a blast, it was a very memorable night. We went to one bar where the Jefferson Airplane and Janis Joplin used to play back in the day, and Richard said that he just HAD to get up on that stage and play some "air guitar", he wanted me to take a photo and email it to him so he could remember the time...so I did, and here's Richard in a very happy time. I thought I'd share that photo and the memory with you. Play on, Richard, and may you always have this much fun wherever you are! |

Very sad indeed to know Richard passing away. I first met him at the GAL 2004, he took me to his room and showed those beautiful quilted spruce and asked me to select some. The last time I saw him at his home after the HGF last year. He is a very nice and helpful friend. We'll all missed him! Jeffreyyong |

Howard I remember the ads Richard ran saying "It's a Klepper" Long illness usually means cancer. I just had prostate cancer surgery in May! Mine got caught in time! It really hurts to loose a friend! My best to you & Richards family! mike |
