OK, I wanted to get as much stuff ready as possible (ie: prototyped, process solidified, etc) before I put this up but it's finally ready!!! [:Y:] [:Y:] [:Y:]

We have tuner buttons in twelve shapes, all fully 3D (these aren't just 2D profiles!):
Gotoh Delta
Grover Bean
Oval (concave contour)
Keystone (concave contour)
Schaller Standard
Grover Imperial
(and Mini buttons in all shapes, same shape but 80% of the size!)

Any set of buttons can come with a bushing to fit Grover, Schaller, or Gotoh shafts, with a straight hole, with a blind (not through) straight hole, or undrilled. Note that the shaft for a Schaller is bigger than a Grover is bigger than a Gotoh. You can put a set with the Grover bushings on a set of Gotoh tuners and the 'wiggle' is pretty much imperceptible once the screw is tightened, so if you use both brands of tuners it might be safer to get those bushings.

They're the same price in Indian Rosewood, Ebony, Maple, Walnut, Bloodwood, Padouk, Wenge, and any of the stock-price woods. If you send wood, it'll be at this stock price. Cocobolo and Kingwood are $5 extra per set, Brazilian Rosewood is $20 extra per set. We can get other exotics, just ask! We might or might not offer snakewood, but it will be at a premium because the stuff is angry  . We also offer them in any shade of Corian (including the stuff that looks like bone) for $10 more, think of the possibilities!

They're they're now $39 a set for one set and $35 a set for ten sets..
Once this sale is over, the prices and the minimum quantities go up so get 'em while you can!

If there is ANYTHING you want offered then don't hesitate to PM me, I can probably make it so long as I have the specs. That includes mandolin buttons, ones to fit Waverlies, etc...I just need a sample of the button/shaft and I can make ones to fit. We offer all kinds of custom craziness, for those interested, as you can see below from the samples of engraved, engraved and filled, and 'extruded pattern' buttons. We can also inlay anything we make with pearl. They're shown right as they come off the machine, the little line around the edges is paper thin and sands right off, the faces look pretty good right off the machine!

The CNC squares up all the edges to make it 1" by 6", but it needs to start out a bit larger than that. As a minimum, we'd need 1 1/8" by 6 1/8". As for thickness, we prefer 3/8" but we can work with anything down to 0.325" or so, as long as one side is jointed dead flat. We don't guarantee sent wood against coming apart in machining, etc, for obvious reasons.

So, with one side jointed, min dimensions are 1 1/8" x 6 1/8" x 3/8" (but you can use 0.325" if you need to). Most bridge blanks are this size or bigger, it's the same size blank we use for our pyramid bridges.

If anyone wants to laminate blanks up, the 'center' of the laminations needs to be -exactly- 3/8" (0.1875") from the bottom, jointed edge of the stock and the stock needs to be dead flat when it gets here (ie: don't glue it up and throw it in a box before all the moisture from the glue is out, we've gotten some really...curvy...laminations here before )

Bob should this read 3/16 (0.1875) from the bottom, jointed edge of the stock.

Fantastic deal!!! bliss

Peter : Orders will be a bit easier to track if they're made in the thread initially, but people can e-mail them if they need to. Please put 'OLF Buttons' and your OLF username in the e-mail subject, though, so the mails don't get lost in the daily flood! I would like to request that all questions be asked in thread so I don't have to answer too many duplicates.

BobC : Yeah, I totally meant 3/16ths. It's pretty much all in decimal inches in my head these days, I'm losing track of 'the old tongue' :)

Glen : Yep, koa is no problem. I actually had a member offer to supply it if I needed it when I put up the first thread about these!

Post subject:  Re: The REAL OLF Tuner Button Sale!!(NEW PRICE!) Now $39 a set!

OK, this is an e-mailed question I figure I should address here to clear up confusion:

The button shape and the hole are independent. This means that you can order any button shape and have it fit any tuner you want.

The options I have right now for holes is:
Gotoh 510 Shaft (0.153" diameter shaft, 0.125" measured across the flats)
Grover Rotomatic Shaft (0.156" diameter shaft, 0.133" measured across the flats)
Schaller Standard (0.162" diameter shaft ,0.139" measured across the flats)
Undrilled
Round hole drilled through (just name the size of the hole)
Round hole drilled partway through (name the size of the hole and depth)

The holes for the tuner shafts with flats can't be 'drilled' as they aren't round so we make bushings here for a perfect fit. So far as I know, nobody else offers a perfect fit on more than one brand of tuner. If someone else measures a set of tuners not on this list and can give me the shaft and flat measurements, I can offer bushings to fit those as well.

Double check the shafts on the tuners you're using to make sure you're getting the right bushings installed!

No, actually, it's one of the few woods I don't have in stock or a local source for. I can get six sets out of a fingerboard blank if you have one. If there were enough people who wanted them in Mad RW I could get some in, but it's harder to get that stuff than Brazilian right now!

Bob,
put me down for a few sets. I'll supply the wood.
Madrose and BRW is what I want. Fit for Gotoh tuner buttons.

Is the sourcing issue a Canadian thing? Getting fingerboard blanks is easy. Allied and LMII have a ton of them, but I did hear quality of the recent wood is plummeting. Did they suck it all up?

Heh, I should have taken my own advice! duh I didn't look at fingerboards from Allied...so, yeah, I can get Madagascar RW :D

Hi Bob,
I'd like a set of ovals, a set of oval minis, a set of Gotohs, and a set of Gotoh minis, all in Ziricote with Gotoh shafts. If they have a little solid sapwood that would be fine.
Thanks,
