I've seen their ads but never bothered to check out their site. St James Bay Tool Co. Does anyone have any experience dealing with them or their tools?

Thanks Andy. Just what I wanted to know. Which of their planes do you have?

their tools are very nice but everything from the catalog is not always available. they are a small organization and farm out their casting operations. as a result there are sometimes delays whilst stocks are replenished.

otherwise they re good to deal with.

I have 2 plane kits from them with finished castings... one was a trade(pending) with a member here.. They are both top notch... I wouldnt hesitate to deal with them again, in fact Id like to place an order asap - the fact that they are a small biz (which as mentioned can cause delays and stock fluctuations) makes me want to support them even more!
They really fill a great niche in the tool market that would be sorely missed if it were missing!
Cheers
Charlie

Thanks guys. I think I will be looking to them for some of my future buys. I'm all for supporting the small businesses. I will say that I'm surprised that they haven't been mentioned before or that I managed to miss them. Their prices for any of their finger planes are cheaper than any other place I've checked out.

It might be time to start thing about stocking stuffers.

Lillian, sorry to come in late.
I have 3 of their instrument maker's carving planes and a bow maker's shave.
Sweet little tools that are as functional as they are beautiful.
Plus their catalog is fun to browse.

Steve

Thanks Steve. thats good to know. I have a catalog on its way. Circles in catalogs left in strategic places is the best bet of possible getting something I want in my stocking. I'm also thinking of sending it to a few friends who are thinking about joining in on our madness. After all, what good is a friend if they don't encourage you and help feed the TAS.
