Okay now that I've made my radius sanding dish I had to come up with a way to motorize it and this link shows what I came up with so far.

Chris...very cool idea and setup. What is the RPM of the dish when everything is running?

Well , even with the router set on the lowest setting it's still pretty fast. If I had to guess I'd say it's probably around 300 rpm. Seems like it might have gotten a little faster with the rollers installed. I just took of about 1/8" off the back rim profile in about 20 seconds with a light touch. I think it needs to be somewhat slower. I might try ordering a 3/4" drive roller with a 1/2" shaft to slow it down. I'm under the assumtion that it should be around 150 rpm. I'm also think that at the present speed I might go to a higher grit of sand paper like 120grit instead of 80grit.

Mine turns at about 100RPM which is quite nice using 80 grit.

Mine works but it's a bit agressive at that speed and it would be easy to over do it. Maybe if I was use to it then it at that rpm. it would seem less risky. I think the slower rpm or higher grit psa would give me more control though which is what I'm after with a balance of speed. I'm going to try out my other router with a HF speed control tonight when I get back from work to see if can be set at a slower rpm too. Does anyone know a source of 120 grit 24" dia. psa.?

I think McMaster Carr has what you are looking for.

Nice idea for the table. Very cool. You would want to go with a smaller diameter shaft to slow it down, though...right?

I've put in my Porter Cable router and it works with my speed control that I use with heat blanket. I can start it from a stop. Yes the 1/2" shaft would have slowed it down by one half the rpm as the 1" drive roller.

Chris...I just watched your videos on You Tube. Very impressive and thanks so much for sharing. The videos that you and Todd have done lately are some of the best tutorials I've seen. [clap] [clap] [clap]
