Some folks say it has been slow around here in the way of building guitars and posting pictures. I'm sure there is always repair work going on. How about some posts and picture of repair jobs and a few tutorials. I'd love to see some repairs in action. Cracked necks, finish repair, refinish, refret, re anything! Love to see different techniques. Repair has always intrigued me. |

Here's some shots of a busted banjo headstock I put back together recently. With the strings and tuners removed I put the pieces back together and with a little tap on the tip of the headstock everything lined up pretty good. I glued it up with HHG. I used a 1/2" acrylic caul on the face and a cork padded caul on the back to get some pressure at the end of the break where the headstock began to transition into the neck. I don't have a pics of the glue-up but here it is after the clamps came off and the excess glue was cleaned up. Re-gluing the inlays. And after some stick shellac fills and a bit of French polish touch up she's back in service. |
