well I am on my second kit build. This one I have to do quite a bit more then the first. It is a clone of the stew mac kit.

I have been going ok but tonight I had a boo boo I am not sure how to fix.

I put in the rosette and then came back later to plane it down and promptly tore off a chunk. I decided to pull out the rest and now I have no rosette. I could try my hand at making a wood one but don't think I can do a good enough job or maybe some colored epoxy.. any suggestions? oops_sign

Rosettes are not hard. I learned not to do anything to the rosette until it is installed. Not to help you out ,what kind of rostette do you like? Wood is cool. I say try and make one , if that doesn't work out call for help. I can make a rosette as can alot of people here. We are here to help

See if you can order another rosette wherever you got the kit from.

I just build that same kit. When i did the rosette, I used super glue and then a sanding block until I got the rosette down closer to the wood. Then I scraped with a razor until I was much closer. Then sanded the entire top piece.

I think my approach stresses the rosette less, so there's less chance of it coming out. or maybe it was the super glue...:)

I'd try some colored epoxie for a fix. Might be hard to sand flush though and it might leak out and stain the rest of the wood around the hole.....

I guess I'm not much help...

Someone suggested trying to make one in a patchwork pattern out of scrap and then I remembered some nice wood rosettes Ive seen in wood here so I think I may try to do one in wood or buy some veneer strips and trim them to size I will post pics of my fix when done.
