I'm looking for a reasonable price source for fox bender springs and radius dish sandpaper. I'm having difficulty getting my head around $34.50 for a piece of radius dish sandpaper. Are floor sander disks large enough? |

For the sandpaper call http://www.woodworkingshop.com/, it's a special order they don't have it on the catalog. For springs any good hardware store will have what you need. |

Rich: In my radius dishes I use rectangular sandpaper sheets for floor sanders. I get them from the place that rents the sanders. Spray adhesive sticks it down very well. Small gaps are not a problem as they provide a place for the sawdust to go. |

Klingspor for the sandpaper - order however many feet of the PAPER yardgoods, it's the cheapest I've found, and since you'll glue it down you won't need the strength of cloth-backed. For the springs check out MSC (my choice) or McMaster or Grainger (the words "good" and "hardware store" rarely travel in the same phrase anymore). Once you have catalogs for these companies you'll find yourself skipping TV and solving problems. If you seal your dish - both sides - with a couple of coats of epoxy you'll prevent a lot of possible warp, plus old sandpaper will peel easily, and the glue will wash off with a little solvent. I like 77 or 99 for this job. |

I actually found springs at our local Home Depot. Took a little thinking and measuring, but they appear to work. I have finished the bender, but have not done a side yet, but am convinced they will work out. The price was definitely right, approximately 1/3 the cost. |
