... well sort of. The price of this wonderful drill price is going up in couple of days (Sept. 1st). If you've been wanting to upgrade or want to get a nice drill press from the start, this might be worth a look. 6 inch quil travel and split head casting on a drill press is hard...very hard to find at this price($499). Steel City is a company to watch. So far they seem to be going with the basic Taiwan factory designs, with some good mods added. What do people think about the idea of a granite tablesaw top? |

A granite tablesaw top? Wow, now that would be something. Great if it is really flat for glueups and leveling pieces. Don't drop your tools on it though. |

i purchased the steelcity double drum sander, and have been very pleased. It has been in use almost every day for over a year now, and still works well. I will deffinately buy additional tools from them. |

I have the drillpress. I'm very impressed with the quality, features and accuracy of it. I had a look at the granite topped tablesaw and jointer with the granite fence at my local dealer (a Felder dealer that carries Steel city). Very cool. |

I got a Steel City table saw. They sent it with a dead motor. It took them over 2 weeks to get me the right motor. Once I fixed it ,and yes I had to fix it. I found it to be a good tool. I can also tell you that as I was pulling the motor to replace it , the motor under the black paint , is Grizzly Green. They are apparently made in the same factory. Still I would go with Grizzly now as they are closer to me ( 70 miles ) . I think Shop Fox Grizzly and Steel City are the same quality. john hall |

I'm pretty sure you're right that they come out of the same factory John. I have a "Canwood" brand 17" bandsaw that looks identical to the Grizzly as well. I haven't however seen another drillpress of the same design (split head, 6" quill stroke) as the steel city. Not to say they aren't out there somewhere. |

I have the 14" Grizzly drill press. Watch out for runout - its more than I'd like. Otherwise its pretty well built. |

They even threw in a laser ($50) and since I ordered it through my local Woodcraft store, I didn't have to pay shipping. Having said, Cup Raman for next month or so to pay for the thing. |
