Hi,

What would be the best way to store joined tops/backs - horizontally or vertically? I was thinking if joining multiple at the same time, and there may be a time lag for the tops/backs (and assuming stored in an RH controlled environment), is it better to stoire like we did LPs in the old days on edge, or is it better to stopre flat.

Thx!

Glenn

After I join and rough thickness my plates I drill a hole in one corner of the plate and hang them up until I'm ready to use them. I've done this for over a year now with no problems so far and it keeps them out of harms way. I don't have a large shop and flat surfaces are at a premium as is wall space, I can store quite a few joined plates on a six inch peg poard hook.

I like to store vertically in an old wire LP rack with a little airspace on each side so they'll continue to acclimate evenly, but I've used Todd's method, too - just treat each face the same, or they'll curl.

I hang mine from a makeshift cloths line and some small spring clamps. They're out of the way, and both sides exposed evenly to the atmosphere.

I just keep mine sort of propped up in my shop's office/wood store. Cypress and Caucasian ready for a Torres. They've been there for a couple of months while I finish another guitar.

I like to keep them flat. I also apply a gravity clamp. Storing the verticle allow sudden humidity changes to do funny things. If you have a controlled environment it may not matter. Keeping them flat with weight will keep them flat and true.
