After final sanding what's the best cleaning solvent to use before applying a True Oil finish, naphtha, mineral spirits, etc... Thanks.

Hi Todd,
Thanks for your reply. My guitar is made of walnut and maple, so I guess It's ok for me to use. Thanks again.

I use mineral spirits since it takes a bit longer to flash off and it doesn't seem to bleed colors as much as naptha. This makes it very easy to determine whether you have prepped the guitar correctly for finish. It also allows you to see any missed sanding scratches.

Mineral spirits. But to clean dust, compressed air and a tack cloth.

Laurent, I would prefer using compressed air as well, but i don't have access to It.
Where can i buy a tack cloth?

I was hesitant to ask what seemed like a very basic question, but I'm glad I did. I thought all mineral spirits was the same, and i thought the same about Naptha. I do have some Premium Quality Odorless Mineral Spirits that I can use. Thanks to everyone for enlightening me.

You can buy them at a hardware type store in the paint area. You can also make your own. A sample "how to" can be found here

I've given up on HD, they never have what i need.
I called a paint store in Manhattan that stocks the Gerson brand, I 'll pick up a few tomorrow. Thanks for the detailed info. Todd.

Can someone tell me, how long it takes the mineral spirits to dry before I apply a seal coat of shellac? Thanks

Depending on how saturated your wipe down was just a few minuets.
