Here's a guitar that just got back from Tony.
It's one that's pictured on my site in it's raw state.
Old growth Cocobolo w/ Brazilian bindings.
The top is a stellar piece of very white Engelmann.
Which is why it hurt so badly when a sap pocket suddenly appeared when finish sanding.
It would take the top to much too thin a state to sand it out, so what to do? Sunburst it! (Much to Colin's delight!)
So, we talked it over w/ Tony, told him our ideas of what we like, and he did the rest. He did such a fine job, that it tempts me to sunburst them all from now on. These pics don't do his work justice, but here's a view of 'em anyway:

Hey Rod, many thanks. More pics soon. Well, if Ike doesn't cause too much damage. We were blessed during Gustav, but this time we're supposed to be on the "dirty" side of the storm. In fact, if you guys don't hear from me in a week or so, it's cuz we've been blown back into the pioneer days.

Joe, very gracious of you to praise the "competition", and thanks for the kind words in my direction.
There really IS something about a sunburst, isn't there?
I love the richness it imparts plus the way it makes abalone pop.

Thanks again,

Steve

Hooo boy, does it feel good to have power again!
What a treat to drive down the street and see the lights on.
Next time you guys see a lineman, hug him.

Let's see:
John M.--way cool guitars! Is the blue one, Lucky 7, a metalflake? Really sweet.

Colin, Colin, Colin, my apologies friend. But under the circumstances, you just might have done the same.

Nice to "see" you guys again. This candlelight was making me blind.
