G1023SL 10" Table Saw 3 HP Single-Phase 220V Left-Tilt



Built with the same heavy steel cabinet and cast iron table as the extremely popular Model G1023S, this left-tilting saw became an instant hit when introduced last year. Just as with the G1023S, the motor is 3 H.P., single-phase, 220V and has a triple-belt pulley. The blade splitter has been redesigned from that of the G1023S for even easier adjustments, and the accurate and dependable Shop Fox® Classic fence also comes as standard equipment.

I can tell you this. When I was looking for a new table saw I was ready to go out and get a Powermatic (the big one... model escapes me) and John Osthoff talked me into giving the Grizzly a shot, and I am really glad I did. It is a tank. Very well built and runs like a dream. The only thing that I would say I am only 90% satisfied about is the fence. I have the Grizzly double locking fence. I wish I got it with the Bess instead.

Do you have 220v power in the shop? You can run these on 110v but I think it makes them under powered. Maybe someone else can comment on this. I am not sure if that is when you go from 2 phase to single phase or what. I just recall our saw performing differently once it was wired differently.

I have a Grizzly drill press and I like it just fine. Don't know about the table saws other than a good fence on a mediocre saw really beats vice-versa.

i think you are looking at the bandsaw and todd was speaking of the tablesaw, which he is correct about. you happen to be right about the bandsaw. at first i thought it was a repeat post and then saw that one was for the table saw and the other for the bandsaw.

i own the 1023 slx, which is the same saw with a wider rip capacity. love it. i would just order from grizzly though. i dont think you are going to save much through a third party and there is less risk invloved direct from grizzly.

2HP=1490w P=VI so 1490w/110w = 13A possible but pretty close to the limit most circuits (usually 15A). Only 6.5A @ 220v though

3HP = 2235w 2235w/110v = 20.3A Very few 110 outlets are rated above 20A.

Properly set up, there is no reason you couldnt resaw for days with that saw.... mine is only a 3/4 hp older Delta and I resaw pretty much anything needed on it.

You cant run the table saw on 110 single phase, no matter how many amps it pulls .. the motor windings are designed to see 220v... if you did plug it into 110, I suspect it would run at half speed with not much torque, or not start at all.

The other thing is the calculations shown do not include start up currents, or any motor losses. I had a cheaper 1.5/2 hp table saw (how they calc the hp is a mystery with some of these makers), akin to a US grizz, and it needed 18 amps at 110v .. and I could pop the breaker a bunch with a 20 amp circuit if it ever bogged down in a cut.

As for HP ratings, dont believe everything you read .. I have a CH 5 hp compressor, and a 3 hp bosch router ... both running on 110v laughing6-hehe - its not possible for these ratings at 110v, but thats what the tag says. Go figure ...

I have the extreme series 19 inch band saw. This thing is stock but for the ceramic guides. Works like a dream. I did go with a lennox blade. Solid piece. I can recommend this saw. I like the table saw , I went to buy one about a year ago , and they were out of stock so I did get a steel city. They are identical but for color. My table saw came in from the factory with a dead motor and when steel city sent me a new one , as I opened the motor to hook up the wire , it was Grizzly Green under the black paint.
My guess is that these tools are pretty much built overseas , and are painted to the customers specs. The saw came with the Bess fence and it is a nice addition to a table saw.
As always , read the safety advice and know your tool.

I recently bought the Grizzly 575 (I think that's the model) and it is prewired 110 but can be wired 220. I am installing a 220 line to my garage as we speak. It just won't pull well on 110 and throws the breaker. It is a very nice saw and I was pretty much betting that my 110 would not be enough even before I bought it.

Don't give it another thought, buy Grizzly. Nothing beats them now. I've been woodworking for 25 years and building guitars for 20. Now in the 90's grizzly suffered from bad tech support and cheap import stuff, it's still import but they run the factories. Now I just bought the top of the line 5 HP Tablesaw about 8 months ago and had previously used a $2000 unisaw. Mine with shipping was $1500 i think, and a Top of the line powermatic is like $3000, twice as good, hell no, as good, probably the same. Using a Forrest Woodworking II blade cuts like butter. The President of Grizzly is a luthier too and does some amazing inlay work, you can see it on Grizzly's website and he is on a few woodworking forums as well. He's actually found thread where people had problem with Grizzly tools and worked on the problem himself. I personally only buy grizzly. You can't beat the price.

I am really starting to like their bandsaws (love the extreme 19" john, think I'm gonna get it).

I also like their cabinet saws... thanks for the tips.

But their Drill Presses? What is up with those? No lasers. No shift on the fly speed control? The drill presses offered by grizzly seem to be on the weak side. Am I missing something here?

Seems the difference between yours and this is the foot brake and 2 speeds. Does the higher 2nd speed meananything here? Or would I be just as well off with the one you have?
