Hello all,

Just wanted to post my latest electric build. It's a 25" scale, Ash body with camphor burl cap/ curly maple stripe. maple/purpleheart neck with burl headstock veneer. Recessed TOM with string throughs. All that's left is to string it up and set the action. Malagasy Rosewood fretboard 12" radius.
Thanks for looking at the Darkside :) This one is destined for a Charity auction for underpriveledged children.

Thanks LP, Funny I was going to use Black hardware and it would look nice that way. But the Gold adds "Bling" and the ladies love it at auction time. :)

Very nice,
the camphor burl looks lovely under than red stain [:Y:] [:Y:]

can i ask you ask you a question about the malagasy rosewood.
does it have a really strong sweet smell to it?

i ask becouse i thnk its the same stuff that i am marketing as columbian rosewood ( i know madagascar and columbia are knowhere near each other).
It came out of columbia and it has confused a great many dealers.
no one what it really is.
it is generaly excepted thats is a true dalbergia but thats about it.

I just manted to know if its the same stuff, it looks identical.
Whatever it is its a wonderfull wood and make great back and sides as well as fingerboards and bridge blanks.
its very light and has very low damping,

Joel.

Joel.
Thanks Joel, yes it does have a sweet aroma when cut. Very nice to work with, polishes very well also.

the description from Gilmer is "This rare Brazilian Tulipwood look-a-like is a true Dalbergia species and like many others in the genus it has flashy color, an aromatic smell, is fairly hard and heavy, and is very stable in use."
