Please share experience with your first cutaway build. was it a success or disaster?
On what number build did you start making cutaways?

I'm thinking of adding a cutaway on my 2nd build(1st scratch).
Would I be adding that much more challenges to already challenging process?

Thanks, David

My 1st was a 000 cutaway from a martin kit thus I did not have to bend the sides, number 3 was a mini jumbo cutaway and I hand bent the sides without any problems with a hot pipe bender. The side bending is the only thing that worried me on the 3rd. I have now purchased a heat blanket and slats from John Hall and will make a fox style bender for the next build.

Bending the wood binding was a bit of a problem around the tighter radius of the cutaway, I damaged a 2 strips of curly maple but once I got it figured out it went well. All this should be easier on a fox bender.
