Post subject:  Today's Progress - 1st Build

I was finally able to make some serious progress in the shop today. I fixed my fingerboard thickness problem and re-cut the slots with a Japanese saw I had laying around. I leveled the upper bout of the body to accept the fingerboard extension. My neck set turned out to be almost 2 degrees (leaning back not forward).

Here are some pics of that and other things I did....Pics are in no particular order.

Any comments are welcome. I would really like to finish this before Wednesday.

OK, I'll bite...the heel of the neck looks very dark in the top two
photo, and only a little lighter in the fourth one down. What neck
wood are you using? Other than that, I like the neat way you
routed out the center area of the contact surface. It'll make it
really easy to fit and floss the neck to the body.

I too like the way you roughed-out the cheeks ;
looks like you're back in business with the fingerboard;
More pictures as they are available,

jack

laughing6-hehe gozierdt.....Thanks fer bein the first...

Neck wood is Sapele. I don't really like it...but it's what I had. For a first guitar - I think my neck fitting is really going well. I will have many people to thank once this thing is done.

My next neck will be African Mahogany (Khaya) with center strips of something....it's lighter than this Sapele...

Brass inserts?
I hope they hold in there!
www.Mcfeeleys.com has some deep threaded steel ones!
You may want to switch to those. [:Y:]

We shall see about the inserts. I can be pretty rough on a guitar so I am probably a good test of whether or not they will hold. LMI's been selling them for quite a while.

Looking good snig !

You shouldnt have any problems with setting the neck using that method.
