Post subject:  Post-Newport mini-show for my guitars in Asheville, NC

On my way home from the Newport show, I'll be spending a day in Asheville, NC. My friend with whom I'll be staying suggested we invite some people over to her house in the early evening to see, hear, and play my guitars (if they haven't all sold ;) ). So, I'm putting out the word. We'll have drinks and munchies - a guitar happy hour for guitar-happy people. If any of you out there live in or around Asheville, or know guitar players/enthusiasts there who might be interested, please let me know. You can reply in this thread, send me a private message, or go to my web site and email me from my "contact me" page. All are welcome, but we'll need RSVPs, so I'm asking people who are interested to get in touch with me, and I'll give more details then.

I'll post a couple photos of guitars I'll be bringing to the show here soon.

Thanks!

This photo, which I took for the Newport Festival program, gives you a little glimpse of 3 of the instruments I'll be taking to the show. Ignore the funny-looking guy who got in the photo somehow.

Nice work Todd! I'd love to hear some sound clips of those. :) Do you find the side ports on the waist side of the lower bout to be more amplified when playing than the versions on the upper bout? I know Kevin Ryan puts them in the arm bevel but I haven't heard any up close and personal like. :D Anyway, I hope you sell them at the show, or at least sign up some custom jobs.

Good luck in FL Todd. Those guitars look really nice.

There is a great band called "Sons of Ralph" that plays in the Asheville area. Check them out if you get a chance. Ralph is the dad. He plays fiddle and mandolin. His boys play acoustic and electric guitars etc. You might hear something like Cripple Creek played with electric fiddle, tele and drums.

Thanks a lot, everybody. Sorry to be slow in responding. Very busy in the shop.

Bill, it just makes intuitive sense to me to put the side soundhole there. Hard to explain why. In any case, it seems to work well.

Waddy, yes, I've been working hard, to put it mildly. So has my wife, keeping the household afloat. When the Newport show is over, I'll be spending some much needed time with my family.

Thanks for the recommendation, Walter.

Tired guy goes down to supper now.
