Post subject:  acrylic resin (paraloid) pore filler

I was reading an Italian forum where a luthier was using an acrylic resin called Paraloid to pore fill wood. He says that it has great properties like fast drying, transparency, non yellowing and great sandability. It almost sounds as the perfect pore filler. After a brief search in Google I found out that it is a material used in the conservation of artwork and other cultural artifacts. It is soluble in a variety of solvents. It seems that Paraloid b-67 is the one to use on the wood.
Anybody knows something about this?

I've never heard of it either, but a quick google search revealed this site and relevant info.

Acryloid (Paraloid) B-67
Acryloid (Paraloid) B-67 is an Isobutyl Methacrylate polymer. This alkyd compatible acrylic ester resin is particularly designed to have good compatibility with paints and varnishes. Acryloid B-67 is a component of many coatings used in conservation, as for example picture varnishes. Soluble in acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, isopropanol, VM & P Naphtha and Stoddard Solvent. Custom Blends Available

Sounds interesting!

Thanks for that information - I've found 2 UK SUPPLIERS!
Shame about the solvents.
