Hi Guys, Just wondering if any of you have an opinion on this drum sander. http://www.grizzly.com/products/18-1-1-2-HP-Single-Phase-Open-End-Drum-Sander/G0458 These guys are shipping to Canada now, and have a deal to cover the freight costs crossing the border. I've also been looking at the one from Delta http://www.portercable.com/products/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=17672 I know these were getting some bad reviews, but I'm wondering if the new models are better. Thing is this is $500 more, and I can imagine it's $500 better. Finally, I know a few of you guys are using the Performax 16-32 Plus http://www.karmans.com/canada/performax/629004K.php I've heard good things, but again it's $500 more then the Grizzly. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

I have the Delta 18/36. It's been a great machine for me. If i didn't have it, i would probably go with the grizzly. I think the delta has the largest drum diameter which i think is better though. ![]() |

I have the Craftsman version of this, which is the exact same machine with only a few plastic cosmetic differences. It does a good job, but the one thing I dont like about it is the hold downs on either side of the drum. Instead of the rollers like on the Performax, it has a sort of leaf spring kind of thing. Thin pieces tend to kick a bit when hitting the second one and cause a line as it gets held up. Other than that its fine. |

I have the new Delta as well. I've had it for over a year now and have no complaints. No issues at all and plenty accurate for guitar making. |

I have had the Jet 16/32 for 2 months and have been very happy with it. It's the same as the Performax. I got it on sale so the price was about the same as the Grizzly. |

Thanks for the feedback guys, very helpful. I think I'm starting to lean towards the Delta, I like the idea of dealing with a local shop. M. |
