Very nice!

You might consider one little tweak, the nut, it would look a little more refined if you tapered the tuner side with a nice soft slope.

Just a thought is all.

Also, forgot to mention the rosette. It's the first rosette I made, and it's desert ironwood and zipflex.

Congrats! I'd like to see some of that ironwood. I've got some and believe it to be very prone to crack (brittle, rogue grain, etc.) Though I've only sawn it into bindings and haven't bent them yet.

Can you post a few pix of the binding, and share your experience with bending the ironwood? I'd appreciate that. Thanks.
Here's a shot of some of my bindings. Top one sealed in shellac, couple dark areas are (obvious) saw burn marks:

I'm on #15 and none of them look that good. Is there a black trim line around the zipflex, or is it by itself?

It's an OM, made from the OLF plans. Back and sides are EIR, neck is mahogany. Fingerboard, bridge, headstock veneer, and binding is all Arizona Desert Ironwood. Zipflex purfling, top and back. Top is Sitka spruce. Gold tuners, gold "Evo" fretwire. Bracing is considerably slimmer than the plans called for. It sounds awesome. I used the Sherwin Williams Lacquer for this one, and I'm not real happy with it. Probably won't be selling this one for that reason. Too bad. I guess I'll have to keep it.

Other wise, excellent! These pictures were taken before the nut was finished. It's now sloped and rounded and comfy. I'll take another picture of it.

Looks nice Phillip! I like the tans in the ironwood. What is it about the lacquer you didn't like?

Real nice guitar Was the issue with lacquer the brand you used or all lacquers? I use Belhen string instrument lacquer and in 10 finishes have had no issues. Fred

Hey fellas, Thanks for the kind comments! The thing I don't like about the finish is, it seems brittle, (I dropped a wooden caul on the top and put a chip in it) but it's also soft enough to take impressions (when I clamped the fingerboard extension on to glue it, the cork covered caul marred the lacquer on the back). Maybe it's just not cured all the way, I don't know. But I think I'll save the rest of my S-W lacquer for cheaper instruments like psalteries, and use the good stuff for guitars.

Like you mentioned, this stuff is prone to breaking. One of the pieces I used on this guitar broke, but I glued it together with CA, and now I can't find where it broke. So it's not necessarily a fatal thing...

The zipflex has it's own very thin black line, but the dark line between the binding and zipflex is actually a small gap filled with super glue. The gap is there because I didn't have the correct size bearing on my router bit. I'll be fixing that on the next one. It doesn't look bad though. Just looks like a black line.
