I'm considering using an old flamed mahogany back I have as a tenor ukulele top. This will be my first foray into the ukulele world, so I'm unsure if the top thickness will be sufficient (It's about .080). If it's too thin, I'll probably buy a koa top, but the mahogany is exceedingly well flamed, and would make a beautiful uke. Any thoughts?

That is not too thin for a uke top.

Hi .075 -.080 will work depending on your back and sides , a double side 2 thin pieces .045 will make a very stiff and rigid side. For more info on ukes check out my videos http://www.ateliertomi.com

0.08 should be ok. Just be really careful with sanding. You'll probably want a sound hole patch if you do a rosette.
