Post subject:  Asymmetrical Acoustic Bridges, questions

This is my first post in a year, new user profile too. Life has been happening (graduating high school) along with assorted family problems, this is the first i've been back into lutherie in nearly a year.

I'm preparing to start another acoustic, my second solo project. The asymmetrical appearance of bridges caught my eye, and from what little i've been able to find on the topic (I used the search tool on the forum first, to no avail) the idea is actually supposed to be helpful to the sound of the instrument, not just for asthetic appeal.

Do any of you guys use the asymmetrical design? If so, what are your findings with it? I figured the OLF is as good a place as any to get a question like this answered, since information on the topic seems to be limited elsewise.

It's great to be back, by the way!

Well i don't have a specific design in mind quite yet, i come up with a lot in my head while at work (it sure beats mopping floors), but haven't put anything on paper yet, which means i probably should.

I guess i somewhat misrepresented myself, i have co-op built 7 others with my father (both of us self-taught, though he's woodworked his whole life), and just in the last 18 months branched off to do them myself, and beginning my second project as a solo builder. The building part itself i'm accustomed to (although i KNOW i couldn't hold a candle to a vast majority of the members of the forum), i'm just wanting to do something rather traditional, but wanting to incorporate some new things like the asymmetrical bridge, (which will likely lead to an asymmetrical peghead, and fretboard end over the soundhole, to keep things consistent, on a bubinga/spruce dread, FWIW) and an lower bout soundport (which i've done, and feel i've had great success at).

I guess i'm just fishing for thoughts and opinions as much as anything...but as soon as i get something nailed down and whittled out, I'll definitly be posting pics.

BTW thank you Mr. Morrelli, it's good to be back.
