My next upgrade , real soon , will be a edge belt sander! Not too small and not to big, however choices seem limited. Any one have a model they recommend? |

http://www.amazon.com/708448-EHVS-80CS- ... B00005NMV5 I have this one, LOVE IT. It can be adjusted flat for sanding the backs of my neckthrough guitars and radiusing fretboards, and I can use the round end for shaping stuff. It has a 6 inch wide 30 inch long platten and can even radius a six string bass neck. They have an oscillating model which is probably great, but you can't use the end as a shaper then. |

I so wish I could score an edge sander. What an awesome, useful tool! Good luck on your hunt. One day someone will make a jointer edge sander combo. |

I run 220 I had 4 breakers added to my circuit matrix a seperate plug for each breaker, in my garage, som each tool is on it's own breaker. Which Grizzly are you looking at? I had a grizzly edge sander of similar dimension that I was less pleased with as the platform was less sturdy. |

actually I run 120. I should probably have a 220 breaker installed for my drum sander. |

Space is an issue. Don't remember the grizzly model but one was around 525 and the other 625. I like the vertical and horizontal option . What kind of jig are you using to radius fretboards? |

I don't use a jig I do it by hand and check it with radius gauges and straightedges. It's funny that you ask that, because the main reason I bought the edge sander was because I had also recently purchased the LMI radius sanding jig and was going to use them together to do my radiusing. The edge sander I bought was this one: http://www.grizzly.com/products/6-x-80- ... nder/G1140 The support table was too flimsy to work with the jig, and I couldn't get even radii, so I simply copied the movement of the jig by hand and after a little practice was able to achieve perfect radii by hand without the jig, now I do any radius, or any compound radius, faster and easier, without having to jig up. I even hired a welder to weld the table in placre, it still didn't have enough support. I vowed never to buy another tool again without first seeing it in person and making sure it met my requirements, the Jet sander is 100% better. If I still had my radius jig I'm sure it would easily work with the tool. |
