I am looking forward to the upcoming zipflex group purchase and am trying to decide which ones to get. Those of you that have used this stuff before, would you mind posting some pictures of your zipflex materials (and builds!) I an particularly interested in the blue and green heart, blue paua, and select green. But I'll entertain all of them! I took a look at the zipflex thumbnails on the zipflex website but they are to small to get a god feel. Thanks in advance! |

Now what I'm especially curious to see is the white or black or gold MOP. I think probably straight strips snapped at less regular intervals will look better, but hard to say without seeing it. |

This is .079 Select Green, there is no finish in this pic, Just a thin layer of CA sanded with 220, 400, then 1200. ![]() |

Jorge, You can buy ZipFlex here at LMI: http://www.lmii.com/CartTwo/thirdproduc ... lex+Strips Or from the manufacturer here: http://www.advancedshelltech.com/ It may not be possible to ship outside the USA due to CITIES, you'll have to ask. Chris. |

Advanced Shell ships to Canada I know because I got some. Not to hijack this thread, but I am using zipflex for the first time. Trying to do a rosette similar to the picture below. I have the channel cut and a bloodwood ring cut. Wanted some advice as to how to proceed. If you were doing this would you fit everything dry and then flood with CA glue? Or do you flood the channel with CA and then fit everything? The other thought I had was to use white glue under the wood ring and then dry fit the outside rings. Then flood with CA. Thanks for any help Neil ![]() |

I glue in the wood ring first. Then, I route for purfling strips and shell, fit them dry, and then flood with CA. I seal the top with shellac before routing anything. Chris. |

I just can't see how flooding with CA and then trying to fit things in before it dried could turn into anything but a bad episode from Comedy Central....bonds skin instantly etc.... |

I have used the blue Pau .064 for rosettes and soundboard edge. I'm happy with the results. Two pictures below - Mike Attachment: DSCN9308.JPG Attachment: DSCN9463.JPG

I worked with Zip flex for the first time this weekend. Went ok. Thanks to Chris for giving me the heads up on how to glue it up. I used the Select Green Abalone .047 with Bloodwood. Here's a picture: ![]() |
