I just finished my 21st guitar. I can't believe I have made over 20 guitars. I never thought I'd do something like this. This is my favorite sounding guitar that I have made. Peter from Cornerstone sold me the top from an amazing stash of sinker redwood tops that he has. The tap tone on it was just amazing. It works well with the walnut back and sides. I like this one for its lush overtones, warmth, balance and bass response. As a finger-style player, this is just what I want to here.
The style of this guitar is what I like - simply letting the natural beauty of the wood speak. I hope you like it. If you are in So Cal, come by and play it and give me your opinion.

Sinker redwood on walnut
Neck Walnut/oak carbon fiber reinforced
EVO gold fret wire
Gotoh 510 Delta Tuners
Maccassar ebony binding, fret board, headplate with mini radiused armrest

Very nice, Steve. Love that walnut!
Also love the warmth, both visual and sonic, of redwood.

Gorgeous! Bonus points for walnut neck. Much cooler than just staining mahogany to match.

Nifty rosette. Aussie blackwood?

I was also struck by the purfling. Love wide wood purflings like that. Are those full length bent strips, or short, lightly curved bits pieced together more like abalone purfling is done?

Another beauty Steve! I love working with the Claro and Black Walnut varieties. They both bend like warm butter and maintain the shape well. One of two Claro's I have on the bench right now will have a Curly Redwood-Engelmann dbl top and the other an Engelmann top. It's encouraging to hear a report that it can produce the sound qualities I hope to achieve in my builds. Congrats on #21. Gonna have to do something real special for the 25th since it will be a 1/4 centurion. :)

Wow. That's a beautiful instrument. I should be starting my fifth guitar pretty soon and already have sinker redwood and walnut ready and waiting. Your work has me even more excited.

Thanks Guys!

The purfling is the from cut off from the back. It is what I think we are calling radial purfling. It is constructed much like inlaying abalone. I cut thin strips, bend and install. It is a bit of work but I like the results.

Walnut is one of my favorite woods to work with.
I'm making 2 curly ones at this time.
Both "Flamencos"

1st time i've seen oak in a neck too. I like that dark grains. I have some antique furniture with the oak with the whiteish spots or whatever you call it. That might look neat in a neck or rosette too. This is one of my favorite guitars that i've seen on here. Very natural and organic looking. Love it, Jason

I have used oak in many necks.
The dark grains are from using black pore filler. It was used on everything but the top.

Below I have oak in a rosette - the red is manzanita. I also used oak in the radial purfling.
