A friend gave me this adjustable pipettor to apply CA glue, it works far better than any pipette I've ever used. You can dial in the amount of CA you want and apply it with the precision of a Surgeon. Here's a link to one I found on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Sper-Scientific-A ... B001EUET48 Scott |

Here's a great tut from Todd about how to "micro-size" the pipette applicator tip. Since seeing this, I bought the 1000 pipette box, and keep finding new uses for them all the time. http://www.luthiersforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10117&t=30317 |

Scott, I'm always looking for better ways to apply CA without tip clogging. How are you finding the adjustable pipette as far as clogging is concerned? I try to purge some air prior to applying with a regular pipette so it will draw the CA back out of the stem and into the reservoir. This helps to minimize clogging but don't always remember to do it. Would like to hear more about your pippetor. How is the adjustment graduated etc. Thanks Nelson |

Sorry guys, I didn't see the reply's. The guy who gave me this uses them for DNA analysis etc, the measurement is so fine I can pick up a micro drop (that wasn't his term) or fill half the tube. I'm not sure about the one in the Amazon link as far as that goes. After each use I pop the hard plastic tip off and I use some canned air to clear it out, if it gets clogged I clear it with a pin, cut it down or both. The thing I like most about it is it's very rigid, no flex at all. Scott |

Scott, I notice these come in different volume capacity ranges - do you know what size yours is, or the make and model so I could look it up? thanks, Mike |

Rather pricey. Might be nice to find one used on ebay or something. |

if you're looking for a really good micro-pipet, you might want to check out Gilson. They are the best I've used so far. However, I don't think they will warrant the pipeting of CA with it. I could imagine the CA fumes damaging the inside of a pipet. Not to mentioon if by accident you get any CA in the pipet shaft. Then it's game over. If you're looking for the right volume range: I'd say a 20-200µl pipet would be best suited. Graduation is normally per 1µl. Clogging of the tip is no issue, since the pipet tips are discarded after each use. You might want to consider using filter-tips, to avoid accidentally getting fluid in the mechanism. All in all, however, I would say this type of pipet is overkill for this application. way overkill. and they're not exactly cheap either. Filippo's solution is a better way to go. |

I'm no expert, and don't use a lot of CA, but I bought a pack of the pipettes from LMII, and when I put CA in them, it stays useable until I use it up. So far, I've never had it dry up in the tube or in the pipette, and I leave it in there for weeks at a time without being used. |

Waddy, how do you make that happen??? Seriously, I've never left CA in the pipette tube for more than a few days without clogging. Special type of CA? Perhaps you're using a procedure to clear the tube after each use? Any advice appreciated. Nelson edit: I actually have better luck with the little replaceable "whip tips" attached directly to the CA bottle. It's handy to not have to be filling pipettes and they have a small tube diameter to allow "micro dispensing". The tube is long enough so that it can be shortened a few times if it does clog. |

Hot Stuff thin, no tricks. I used some tonight that has been in the pipette for over 2 weeks. |
