I need some EIR binding for a Weiss style.
40" long (x4).
.060" x 1/4" +-.
I could make them myself if somebody has a piece big enough to get them out of.

Try Gilmer wood. Look under "cane blanks" - they're frequently as long as 40" and make great binding stock. Pretty inexpensive, too, compared to buying presized binding strips.

I just bound my koa weissenborn in curly maple with a splice along the straight part of the neck - you can hardly see the joint. I guess that would be one big advantage of rope binding - you could splice it anywhere you wanted. However if you do need long pieces, Bruce at Notable Tonewoods cut my sides, he might be able to also supply the bindings.

Made a funky mold for the Fox bender - worked great for both the sides and the bindings.

Thanks all.
I've tried Allied, and a couple of local luthiers if they had any sticks laying around.
I'll try calling LMI today,
and if no go, have Chris do it.
I wanted to go bindingless on this one,
but, well, the joint was ALMOST there.
Also, want to keep it real simple, with siris and rosewood only.

Three votes for the scarf. Worked fine with ebony (duh  ), rosewood and I've even done it with figured maple. It's tricky though to get the flamey bits to line up right.

Nice job, Todd.
You can't see that joint until the microscope pic.
You've inspired me to try a joint like that.
Maybe I'll try just 2 joints instead of 3,
and skip the end graft splice.
